This ex-Calcutta resident is Grandson of eye specialist Nihar Munshi and a former student of Don Bosco (Park Circus) and Calcutta International School, the 27-yearold man is a big name itself in the modelling industry.Shayan used to play at my house when he was a kid. His doc father and Singer mom were busy.So he used to play with my grand mom.Well..... I was not born then. Otherwise.......I wud have been Mrs.Munshi for sure.........atleast try to karti!
Having got into modelling from the age of 11(where he was paid 900 bucks for an ad), Shayan had left Calcutta at 18 to make it big in the world of glamour.Shayan began walking the Indian ramp and appeared in print and TV commercials for Levis, Samsung and Kwality Walls.His modelling career took a giant leap when he was signed up by one of UK’s leading modelling agency, Models 1.Shayan walked in the Fashion Weeks in Paris, Milan and London.
He modelled for Rohit Bal and Arjun Khanna and even in the early India Fashion weeks.
He also appeared in music videos like Aryans, Nitin Bali’s black and white Deewana Hua Baadal. He debutted in Sujoy Ghosh’s hit Jhankaar Beats, in which he was paired opposite Riya Sen.He did cameos in My brother Nikhil and HOme Delivery directed by Two Bengalis Onir and Sujoy Ghosh respectively.
Munshi currently has three more film projects Amar Joshi Shaheed Ho Gaya, with Suniel Shetty, Ahista Ahista with Soha Ali Khan and Abhay Deol and Anjan Dutt’s crossover The Bong Connection . December 2005, he married his girlfriend of three years, VJ and actress Peeya Rai Choudhury. The couple live in Union Park, Bandra.
Right now, Shayan is in news becoz if the Jessica Lal Murder Case. Shayan was doubling as bartender at the April 29, 1999 Tamarind Court party at which 34-year-old model Jessica was shot dead.
Manu Sharma, the son of a serving Haryana minister, was alleged to have shot her after she, also playing bartender, refused to serve him after 2 am.
Then a MBA Student and a struggling model & actor, Shayan had given the court a blow-by-blow account of what he had seen that night. But later, he turned hostile, denying that Manu was one of the two men who had opened fire.
Whatever it is..... Shayan has made his name in the modelling industry. hope to c more of Shayan in the years to come......
