I am a foodie and a frequent visitor to Goa. My first experence with Sheela restaurant was in 2012 when I was visiting Vasco and came across this place just by chance. The restuarant was well located and on the first floor, overlooking the Vasco shipyard. The decor is nice, homely and and simple as with several restaurants in Goa.
The palce is quite buzzing with activity and there is a good flow of patrons. And two frames on the wall proudly declared what the place was famous for - Goas best fish curry meals! As luck would have it, it was my last day in Goa and it was a Monday(I dont eat nonveg on Mondays) and I was quite sad for having missed the place. Service was good and prices were very reasonable. We had veg meals and it was quite average. Understandable, since we were having the wrong item at the wrong place, so no hard feelings.
Having discovered the speciality of the place, I made it a point to visit the restaurant on my next visit - and it was well worth the 18 months wait. I revisited the place in 2014 and we had the standard fish curry-rice meals and fried mackarel and it was simply superb. The fish was very fresh and extremely well cooked. The tangy taste of the gravy refuses to leave my taste buds even today. Sheelas has become a regular "must-visit item on my Goa trips now!
