Aboud of Clouds
Yes, those of who know what it means....u are rite, it is a wonderful place called Shillong! It is on a plateau and has a picturesque surrounding and nice localites called the Khasis. For those who intend to travel...there is a rail head to Guwahati, from Guwahati there are Private and Govt. Buses which ply every half hour or there are Tata Sumos and Cabs for Rs.165 per head. On the way there is a stoppage in Nongpoh, for refreshments...one can buy a bottle of orange honey out there. Not very far is the Barapani Lake, with its breat taking scenery.
There are hotels for staying, like Hotel Polo Towers, Monsoon Hotel, Hotel Magnum etc. all located in the heart of the city called Police Bazar. Shillong has some lovely places to visit...like Wards lake- a man made lake with bote rides, Lady Hydari Park, Elephant Falls- a must see, Beadon Bishop Falls, Bara Bazar - a authentic Khasi Market. One can also go to Cherrapunji (56 Kms from Shillong) - the former wettest place on earth, now its Mawsyngram.
Shillong also has various good educational institutes...St.Edmunds School/College, St.Anthonys College, St.Marys College, Shillong College etc.
Those fond of traditional food, you can try various Jadoh stalls, where you can try various lipsmaking Beef, Pork and mutton dishes. For details you can ask the local lads, called Bah (for Brother) and Kong (ladies).
