Shirdi is a good place to be in any of the weekends you like.If you like a little bit of less rush just take a thursday off and start on Wednesday like I did. This will help in getting travel tickets as well as hotels easily.
Tips at Shirdi
1) Good to have both ways tickets booked in advance.
2) Book hotel in advance if you do not want to get into chaos after reaching there.If you are driving then you will have several options to explore and you can do that even after reaching there. I stayed at Hotel Sai Yug..3-5 minutes walk from temple.
3) Plan for one night of stay so that it is easy on you.
4) One day devote to Shirdi Temple. Relax in the evening in the local market.
5) HAve food at Prasadalaya. They have two options Rs 10 and Rs 40. I tried Rs 40 so it was adecent hygeine level.
6) Next day go to Shani Signapur.
7) Check in Check out time in Shirdi is a pain. It is 12 Noon so if you reach early morning you are early for the check in so negotiate for one and half day rate.
8) I booked through Cleartrip for one day and paid for another half day . Hi-fi hotels will not agree and you will need to pay for full day.
9)The lessoon is even if you go for one night you will need to pay for one and half or two full days
