I travel a lot and choose comfort over everything else, and the SHIVNERI gave me just that. This Volvo bus service connects Pune and Mumbai. Buses ply every half an hour starting from 6:00 am till late night from Dadar T.T. to Pune station. The best thing about this bus is their punctuality. The bus departs bang on time no matter if a few seats are vacant, which never happens as the bus is always full. Even the mid journey halt is for 10 min. max. You should be in Pune in 2.5 to 3 hrs flat. The ride is really smooth b’coz of the Volvo, no rash driving, no jerks and no sudden braking! Unlike private bus operators like NEETA, TPH, and many others who drive you around Mumbai in search of passengers and don’t leave until the seats are full and halt for almost half an hour, this bus is a pleasant surprise. Reservation system ensures that you get your preffered seat, also current booking is available. The interiors are neatly maintained and clean. The seats are very comfortable and reclining too unlike the cranky seats in NEETA. There are two hooks at the back of the seat along with a bag and bottle holder. You also get a newspaper( hindi or english) and a small water bottle!
This ride is costlier( Rs.200) compared to private operators ( Rs. 150 approx), but the quality and punctuality is unmatched. I believe regular travellers should be provided with Monthly passes like the railways.
