Director has failed

It is never easy to make movie of a real life incident.  There is bound to be expectations and since this incident was very well covered by Media, it had evoked a lot of emotion.  I went to the movie with huge expectations.  One of the leading papers had given it a 4 on a 5 rating.  Very very rare.  This meant that the movie had all the ingredients.   The movie has no grip at all.  The diretor has focussed too much on the event rather than building a fictional story.  Apart from the one song by Mika none of the songs are relevant.  The director needed to learn something from Satya or movies of those genre.

Apporva should not be blamed.  He is a mediocre director who refuses to learn from the great works by RGV, mahesh Manjrekar and some others who have captured the underworld so well in their movies.  Apoorva lets the chracters too loose and in the bargain they loiter relentlessly spekaing "Mumbai Bhai language" and using their weapon as it there is no tomorrow.

The depction of Maya’s mother is not acceptable.  No mother would behave the way his mother has been potrayed.  It is a huge insult to the basic concept of motherhood.  Gangsters have mom’s but I am sure they are not  even close to what Amrita Singh depicts.

Initially I had thought that the real mother of Maya Dolas when she filed a complaint in the high court was just drawing publicity but now I can see whay she is so disturbed.  It is very easy for Approva Lakhia to depict maya’s family in such bad light since he is no longer alive.  I wonder if he had erred the same way with Dawood or any of the other living dons.  The answer is NO.

About performances,  Viveik rocks.  Tusshar should try his hand only at light romantic comedies, this role is a strict NO NO for him.  Sanjay Dutt is good but he can do much better.  Suniel Shetty is again a pain to watch.  He also loiteres around and the director has let him loose.  Diya

irza does a decent job too.  Others are not worth mentioning.  Amitji has a very limited role which as always he does good.

All in all a huge failure.  I guess we audiences have been exposed to such great talent and we will no longer be able to live with such mediocrity.  Apoorva needs to learn from his mistakes.  he has talent but is still immature at the art of making good cinema.
