Hot topic these days - should Sourav be dropped from the India team ..in my opinion ..I go for yes....
Already 4 reviews on the topic..with 3 of them saying no..and only 1 saying yes... u get the answer from the 4 reviews itself ...what I’m trying to do here is just take points from the 4 and just prove my case..thats it ...let me see whether I can justify it or not.
Kishor came up with a strong YES with great stats ..but ultimately he was very rude on Ganguly saying he is the worst ever captain..I don’t agreee with that ..obviously...ganguly can’t be the worst capain of INDIA....but then I wont say him as the best one also....
I would term him as the luckiest captain of India... coz ..if u see ...why is he being called the most succesful captain of india ..he had captained INDIA in some of the stunning wins of INDIAN team like the Kolkatta test, Port of Spain test, Adelaide ....and some beautiful onedayers..(but as a real cricket lover...one wont consider ODIs much anyways that doesn’t matter here)
But when u look into these matches....individual brilliance stands out than team effort...like the whole of 2001 test series can be attributed to bhaajjis heroics..the Aussies were clueless on how to tackle him..then Laxmans 281...then in adelaide again the same pair coming for the rescue...
Luckiest part of his captaincy was ..if u remember in the famous kolkatta win over aussies ..ganguly got away with the delay he made in declaring the Indian innings...that might have proved costly..... but think during Sachins regime what was the teams position.. ’’and at that time it was only sachin who could win matches if he failed the team collapsed’’(from greatone’s review)..so now if we go by this and bring both teams on same platform then sachin is a better captain right!!!!!!(come on it might look silly...but then if go by stats wise that will be the result...)
Nobody in those 3 forgot to ask 9970 runs ....is that not enough..how come these runs....okay accepted..dada is a great batsman..terrific stats..but what to do now... presently what is he doing..then if u start seeing the records alone ask Sunil Gavaskar to play now, or why did u send back Laxman...
GUYS AND GALS THIS WHERE I STRONGLY BELIVE THAT WE INDIANS R GOING WRONG..WE GIVE MORE IMPORTANCE TO THE STATS AND RECORDS THAN WAT IS REALLY NEEDED...
Remember if the australian board had seen the stats of Waugh bros..will they drop them...and hadn’t they drop them , do u think by now they would have got a GR8 captain in RICKY and youngsters like CLARKE and KATICH.... see don’t we have young talents in INDIA...why to go and search..what abt kaif and Yuvraj....their career is being literally wasted ..because of these non peforming so called great guns showing their past reords....
Even after all these u still want to wait for ganguly to perform...its foolishness.... and I think 6 match
ban is a welcome break for ganguly...to my mind I think he needs rest right now...with pressure adding up on all sides to perform well ..he need a break.. if not drop him..rest him..send him to play first class matches, let him regain his form and let him comeback strongly...
Players in the team should justify their place in the team.. even sachin should be sent back if he is not peforming....but thats the character of sachin now and then he had always answered his critics in style....thats why he is known as the man of consistency....but had he not perfoemed well througout the series..definitely he shud be following ganguly for a short gap to comeback strongly....
In the case of ganguly its too long a wait now..especially with many talented guys knocking the door.....and the reviews supporting ganguly said indirectly that he is the best captain ...no one else had done captaincy like him..but tell me can we have a non playing captain....added to these facts ganguly’s fielding is the poorest in the team(shud be accepted).....
And regarding Dravid’s captaincy ...I think its premature stage to say anything on it..only 5 test matches with 50% record...nothing bad...he might prove bad..but we have to find the right person ......how long are we going to say ’’ganguly the best..we have beaten australia in kolkatta, we have won in leeds...’’if dravid not satisfactory go for Sehwag...thats how it has to go....our foreseeing capcity is very poor..I believe.... but dont ask me..why to go for a search when we have one in our hand...enough is enough...let us try to find a performing captain so as to fill the void in the 11 memeber team.......
