Back in the good old days, anyone could have went to go see a sporting event of their choice and be able to afford it. It was not a matter of how much the ticket price costed, it was if you could get the seat that was the final clincher.
Nowadays, sporting athletes are paid outrageous amounts of money for their activities on a court, rink or field that doctors should only deserve. When you think about it :
Doctors make about $150, 000 a year to :
a) Deliver a baby
b) Perform Open Heart Surgery
c) Remove Ovarian Cysts
d) Trying to Find Ways to Cure Diseases
.....whereas a
Baseball Player (Alex Rodriguez) makes 250, 000, 000 in 10 Seasons to
a) Hit a ball with a bat
b) Stand in the Outfield and Catch an Occasional Ball
c) Make $3, 805 to sit in a dugout chewing bubble gum
Think about how crazy these numbers are and how each profession works to make that money. It seems like it should be the opposite but the reality is it isn’t.
Times will never change and they eventually will get worse.
Athletes salaries keep increasing because the greedy players demand that you pay them the money because the top player got this and they did better than that. ’’So pay me more, or I’m gone’’.
With these arena’s and stadiums, they are forced to pay the salaries and as a result jack up prices. Teams without the star player begin to deteriorate, start slumping and eventually the team loses attendance and money.
Overall Thoughts ....
All in all, my point is that I have not been able to watch a hockey or basketball game within the past 5 years because of what has happened to ticket prices. I love the sports and used to attend them 5 or 6 times a year depending on my schedule. Ticket prices are insane nowadays. I petition everyone just to not go to the games and watch them on television while the industry suffers.
