For young and old alike, SHREK is great.

Well, I had to look after my 5 year old niece for a few hours and got stuck seeing a movie I thought I would hate!

I’m not real big on animated, full length movies. To me animation is ok for a cartoon or even a short TV show(like The Simpsons or even The Flintstones).

But, to my surprise, I actually sat and watched and laughed at SHREK. Who’d have thought?

SHREK stars the voices of, Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow and Eddie Murphy.

SHREK, is an ogre whose swamp has been taken over by the likes of 3 blind mice, the 3 little pigs and sleeping beauty, to name a few. He wants these fairytale characters gone....OUT OF HIS SWAMP !

So he sets out to save it. He goes to The Lord, played by the voice of John Lithgow perfectly. Now The Lord wants to become King very badly, and the way to do it is to marry Princess Fiona, played by the voice of Cameron Diaz. So The Lord tells SHREK that if he can rescue Princess Fiona from the clutches of the Fire eating dragon, he will rid his swamp of the fairytale characters.

Off goes SHREK........ Along the way he runs into a wise-cracking donkey , played by Eddie Murphy’s voice(and they couldn’t have picked a better person to do it).

The movie goes on through many funny situations(and a little bit of ’’language’’ is used(but not enough to keep your kids from seeing this movie!)

Once Princess Fiona is rescued, the trek back to The Lord begins yet another bunch of hilarious situations, with The donkey having all the best lines.

Along the way, SHREK learns not to be so mean and nasty and he falls in love with Princess Fiona, who, in spite of SHREK being an ogre, falls in love with him as well.

There’s lots of music, fun and laughs in this, fairytale that is sure to become a classic.

My niece laughed throughout the entire movie(and she actually sat still!). And better than that, even I thought it was great.

A must see for kids over 4-5 years old and for adults of all ages.

Dreamworks took a longshot chance on this movie, and wound up with something to give the Disney guys a run for their money.
