As the title itself might have suggested..... this college rulzz..... I am an x-SIESiet. Firstly about the college infrastructure location et al....
This college is just 15 mins walk from Sion railway station.
just 10 mins walk from Sion bus depot (CR).
just 15 mins walk from GTB railway station (CR - Harbor Line).
just 03 mins walk from Bus stop for buses for Mulund, CBD, Mumbai sides (ST, NMMT and BEST).
just 15 mins walk from Bus stop for buses for Kurla, Andheri sides.(BEST)
At least reaching the college is not a big deal for any one.
The building structure is in a square format with a small vacant space in between. All the office related work and Gymkhana, NCC office are placed on the ground floor. The Physics, Maths and Statistics department hold the first floor. The second floor manages the Biology and Chemistry departments along with the staff room. The third floor is totally dedicated to Comp Sci and IT departments. The canteen of the college is in the basement.
As far as the faculty of the college is concerned, me being from the computer science department can rest assure you that the CS department of this college is one of the best. (Atleast during my tenure over here as a student... it was). But then if you are looking for spoon feeding, then this is not the place for you to be.
Coming to some more important factors like sports and CCA activities.
This college is very much into CCA activities with almost a couple of events or competitions being held every month. The sports and NCC committee of this college is also very active.
The crowd of this college is a mix. During my years over here, we could divide over group basically in 4 divisions:
1) Studios people with at least 5 kgs stacked on there back. Found right with in the lecture rooms. God how much I used to hate them but then have to be with them.. ;-))
2) The Ruffians. Well being one I had to be with them. Always located outside the college gate.
3) The Culturals are the ones located always either near the atrium or in the canteen discussing the upcoming events within or in some other college. It was always a delight to be in this group cause we ended up getting attendance for lectures we werent even aware of.
4) The No Goods, No Bads. These are the people located every were from the college gate to the atrium. The canteen to the lecture rooms and are the most easily accessible ones.
Frankly I have always believed that college is not for Studies but for personality development. Let your college be as good as IIT or BITS or IIM. Studies are always done by an individual on his or her own. Coming to personality development, this place is as good as it can get. The mix of crowd and interest is always good. There are people with 5 kgs stacked on there back either in the form of books in back or clothes for nights club party or some kind of guitar. You name it and you have it all.
The most attractive part of this college is its discipline and its annual festival VISIONS which attracts more than 27 colleges almost every year. The festival preparation starts at least a couple of months in advance and is a moment of euphoria for all the volunteers, participants and the audience. The pressure during that time to manage studies and the additional responsibilities do get the best out of you. I frankly believe that every student in this college should have a taste of this event as a participant, volunteer and a core committee member in there 2 or 3 years over here. The celebrity list of this festivals invitees is also great and attractive.
Another attractive part of this college is the beautiful girls and handsome guys coming over here. Well my juniors inform me that the standard has drastically fallen down but what we had during my tenure over there was fantastic. I really miss those beautiful girls. ;-))
Also, the near by hangouts are great. The Cine Planet multiplex is 15 mins walk from the college and Adlabs is also 15 mins by cab. The college has CCD and Barista on 15 mins walking distance on either side. Also another attraction is Guru Kripa. As per my experience, this is the best place in entire Mumbai to have samosa and one can often witness Television and Movie stars over there.
This college also boast of some famous Indian personalities like Sherya Ghosal, Candis Pinto, Hariharan and ofcource yours truly SHIKHAR PARASHAR.
Well that is it what I had to write in. In case you want any more info, do visit the comments segment.
Awating your ratings and comments on my views.
P.S.: All the points mentioned above are relative to my tenure in the college and I have not much information about any strategic development of this college since 2003.
Hail S.I.E.S
