Ever wondered what do on those tired weekday nights after work when you just need to unwind and watch some mindless
crap on the tube ? Forget MTV Grind or the reruns of comedies and movies your getting sick of watching a million times over.
Well if this is your predicament then I would highly recommend you tune into AXN and get a load of Silk Stalkings.
No its not a show about a stalker wearing stockings made of silk. In fact its a really cheesy, predictable detective thriller with a
guy and a girl playing partners investigating crimes. Oh not just any run of the mill crimes but the tantalising, glamorous high
profile debauchery that results in the most sensational murders in the rich bylanes of Palm Beach, California. The suspects are
high strung, frustrated, promiscuous enabling the crime solvers to round up a bunch of suspects to the prod and dig into. The
methods at solving these cases read out the same in every episode and to add a bit of spice to the sombre proceedings the
creators insist of giving you a front row view to the personal lives of these slick crime fighters.
The original cast had Rob Estes (of Melrose Place fame)and Mitzi Kapture ( Alex in Baywatch) as Chris and Rita exploring
the deep dark world of the rich and famous.Nothing to drive home about except for the absolutely flashy formal wear and
dialogues that you probably knew already were coming. After they got bumped off the show ( Cos Rob wanted to get
headlong into Melrose business and Mitzi was heading the family way. It amazing cos the producers worked her out till the final
days of her pregnancy. talk about tough as nails professionalism) the next couple( a pair of unknown stars whose names I cant
even pronounce or better cant remember) to helm the lead were pretty pathetic. Anyways now the show seems to have come
of its own with a new hotshot pair to chase crime on the streets, Thomas and Cassie ( played by Chris Potter and Janet Gunn).
The Captain, Harry Lipshitz ( played by Charlie Brill has been there right from the start....he does a bit to liven things up with
his brand of staid humour).
Though the flashy suits still feature in the shows line-up, the crimes seem to have improved just a tad bit ( Not much Im
afraid). In a nutshell this show is nothing but Baywatch and Melrose Place interlaced with the concepts of every detective
thriller in town.
Like I said before unless you are in mood for something mindless, something that does not tax the seams of your intelligence
dont venture into the world of Silk Stalkings.Cheese is in, not the low fat variety but mozzarella of the highest order.
