Is there any writer who’s stories contain more magic than J. R. R. Tolkien? this genius storyteller once again proves there is nobody equal to him.
i wanted to read this book cause I was very impressed with LOTR movie and since then it has become one of my most favourite books and due to it I learnt Quenya and Sindarin - elf languages created by Tolkien himself. the great master wrote this history during 60 years and you can never find any wrong or not needed line in it. the book is a guide to Middle Earth in all it’s beauty. it has everything - love, friendship, grief and joy, traitory, tragedy, wars and battles. everyone can find something for him. Silmarillion contains a history of nearly 50.000 years if not more, and though the book is short each page tells a story of 100 years. we find out who and how and why created the world, how evil appeared and how it was defeated. we learn where elves came from and where they go when their time is over, why where dwarves created and how men received the greatest gift - mortality.
beautiful descriptions, touching love stories, the battles of good and evil make this book unique. we also see Tolkien himself and his beloved wife as the great heroes of Middle earth - mortal Beren and elf maiden Luthien who had to fight for their love against the whole world, even against the biggest evil of Middle earth.
Silmarillion has many stories - each beautiful, interesting and sorrowful. it is a must read not only for fantasy fans and people who believe in magic, but for those who believe that love and friendship are stronger then any evil.
