Silvassa - a real getaway

Silvassa is the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli a Union territory. Ruled by Portugese until 1954, and later by local tribals, it is located between Maharashtra and Gujarat. The nearest rail head is Vapi, 17 km away. By road it is 180 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Surat.


A picturesque land interspersed with gardens, hills, green forests, tall trees, lakes, the Daman Ganga river, Madhuban dam and a lion safari Silvassa is a wonderful weekend getaway for anyone from Mumbai to Surat. There are plent of Resorts and hotels available, many on the banks of Daman Ganga river.


Places of interest:


Vasona Lions Safari 11 km away - One male and two female lions can be seen and photographed from close quarters as you are taken through the protected forest.


Dudhani 20 km away - A breathtaking view of the vast water-spread of Madhuban Dam on the river Damanganga.


Vanganga Lake and Island Garden 5 km away - wooden bridges, flowers, jogging paths, thatched huts, and paddleboats you can spend hours together here.


Tribal Cultural Museum - Life size statues and display of tools, musical instruments gives you a feel of the culture of the tribal people.


Pipariya Udyan - with waterfalls, rocks, arches, lawns spread of flowers a real delight to visit.


Vandhara Udyan - a riverside park and a nice picnic spot
