Starting a new Arena of Price-war

I was waiting for Air Deccan to start its service in Chennai-Delhi sector.

I am a frequent flyer of Jet Airways in the same sector, they are also giving some discounts but still the air-fare is too high. Even the Apex fare can cost 4, 000 if purchased in 1 month advance.

Air Deccan is the India’s first no frills low cost carrier.I was too much excited by their offer. Its true that they have very limited seats in Dynafare scheme which starts from Rs 500/-, but still their graded fare scheme is much cheaper than any other Air lines in India. The best thing you can get the next day ticket in the price of other Airline’s Apex fare. The booking system is also quite smooth, you can book the ticket either on phone or through their web-site. Its very easy & everything is automated.

How they are managing their cost? Its very easy they are making 100% utilisation of their resources. With only 1 air hostess per flight, 10 hours per day average flying of single Airbus, No external Booking counters, No travel agents, No frills, Simply Fly.............that is the mantra of cutting cost.

Air Deccan provide the middle class an alternative to AC II & AC III Train Journey with saving of time as much as 90%.But the cons is rush is too much heavy that I got 2 months ahead ticket in the second hour of first day of booking with the 3 times of their min. price & after 2 hours all the seats upto Apex fare range full. So If you really wants to fly cheaply you have to book your ticket much in advance. Till now Rs 500/- ticket have been sold out till March 31, 2005 on B’lore-Delhi & Chennai-Delhi sector.

So the Indian version of Easy Jet is flying High.

The only thing they have to maintain the quality & discpline while on Board. As the competion is starting in the no frills section also with the entrance of Vijay Malya’s UB kingfisher Group which is expected to start its service in all major Metro from January 15, 2005.

Its very hard to maintain the profit in the low flying section. The Air Decaan has to increase its frequency between high traffice sector & we can see a good price war between the High cost Air Carrier also.
