I had the opportunity of flying six round trips in the last eight months on various occasions. Out of which one happened to be Air Deccan.
At entry airport - New Delhi - As usual chaos in the airport because of evening peak time with little place to walk. That Air Deccan is not having a passengers waiting lounge could sneak a condone perhaps if we take cognizance of the economy. However the airlines should look forward to provide a lounge in future. So mostly the waiting before checking in was cumbersome particularly given the fact that the flight was declared one and half hour late since incoming flight was delayed due to poor weather conditions. That the airlines donot have seperate Xray viewer added to the woes. The wait was about half an hour because other flights of other airlines were to take off before our flight.
The Check-in - New Delhi - The host/ess of Air Deccan were sure professional in handling the passengers and the Airport security were routine and dull as usual but quick & efficient. Here also due to various flights taking off in the next hour we could not sit for another half an hour but we got seat after some other flights passengers left for boarding.
The Bus to the flight - was decent but did not bear the logo of Air Deccan.
Boarding the flight - Better vigil by Air Deccan Staff on regulating the passengers boardingthe flight is required.
In the flight - New Delhi - Very decent and pleasant welcome got us to our seats. The safety instructions were routine. Three hostesses were there and they did a reasonably good job of handling the requirements of passengers during flight. The seats were good but with just enough leg room.Above average people would find it difficult to sit.
The Take Off - New Delhi - Decent take off with little strain to the passengers.
The flight - Except for air pockets or turbulent weather which shook the flight the flying was a nice experience. One important thing to note is "first turbulance-shake-off-of-aircraft was NOT announced by the cabin team.
The landing - Chennai - The landing was okay but not very smooth. That credit one HAS to give to INDIAN (Air lines) for very very smooth landing.
Luggage collection - Chennai - Lot need to be done by Airport authorities to disburse the luggage of various passengers from various flights. Handling of luggage by the people are very very poor. They just throw the luggages on the luggage escalator
Return Trip - Return trip was smoother and more decent than the to trip. That Hostess (I could see only one) need to be complimented for deft handling of things in aircraft. The landing of the return trip at Delhi was better that at Chennai but not anywhere near that of INDIAN (Airlines).
Luggage Collection back at New Delhi - The worst of ever I have seen baggage handling is the National capitals Airport. Long wait, long gap (40minutes) between one to other luggage of the same group of luggage spoiled the day.
The Pre Paid Taxi in New Delhi - It is run by a private person. For a distance of 6 Kilometres that is from domestic airport to Dwarka, they charge Rs.600(INR). Though it was AC Car this is loot and disgusting.Suggest passengers to get taxi from outside instead of from the vicinity of Airport. So many travels are operating "Pickup" and "Drop back" service. The charges for this for the same place is just "Rs.300(INR). We should have the phone number and inform the details of arrivals well in advance. This Pick up & drop back service by local travels in New Delhi is one of the very good services to public.
Over all I would rate the round trip as "Fair Enough", particularly for Rs4800/- (INR) per round trip between New Delhi and Chennai.
Such Airliners are to be encouraged by the public. The Airlines also are advised to improve on infrastructure at Airports for Passengers.
Good! Air Deccan. But You have to improve a lot.
