Not even worth creating a free profile.

Commercialization of a pious event like marriage has given us advantages of choosing our desired partner from a pool of profiles. After successes of other matrimonial services, a new player entered the market. SImplyMarry. I will be dividing my reviews in a series of events or rather bad experiences.

  1. Joined SimplyMarry as a free member and after looking through a bunch of profiles found someone really interesting. Proposed her and waited for 2 weeks as being a free member I did not have direct access to her phone and email details.

  2. As the website appears to be made by some college students, (Don’t get me wrong I am an Application and Web Developer myself) I did not trust that the proposal I had sent even reached the girl.

  3. Decided to become a gold member and paid a sum of Rs. 1500/- through my credit card. They do not handle credit card transactions themselves, but have a third party do the billing and charging. Something went wrong and the transaction was denied. I tried 3-4 times but all in vain. I used my other card and finally somehow the transaction went through. Minutes after this I used my card in a local coffee shop to find that my credit card has been blocked. I called CitiBank to find out, and they said the card was blocked because some fraudalent transaction was taking place. I am in US, and they clearly Identified that someone in India tried to charge this card in a wrong way. Anyhow using my other card I got through and became a GOLD member for 4 months.

  4. This money I spent was only to find out that the contact details given on the profile of that girl were incorrect, the cell number was wrong and it reached someone else and I never received any reply from the GMAIL address provided there.

  5. I contacted the live chat customer support. Again this is handled by third party called "LIVEPERSON". You cannot find whom you are talking to because the ID used by them is "simplycare". Anyway I asked them if they even verify someone’s contact details when they create a profile and the guy had no clue. Ah, .and did I mention that the person on the other side was very very arrogant, he took 10 minutes just to write simple lines where no pulling out of data from their database was required.

  6. Moving further, on 5th of Jan 2010 I received a proposal from profile ID: newf1041181. I bet you’ll laugh at this, the profile had no picture, very minimal details and Location was California, USA and Marital Status: Divorced for a 22 Yrs old girl. Suspecting the intention of this profile. I accepted it and replied to the email address. In the evening I checked this profile again to see that the Location has changed to India and Marital Status to: Never Married. In my Inbox a mail appeared which all of you might have seen a million times. A girl in Dagar Senegal, Africa.who is in refugee camp asking you to bail her out with loads and loads of money. I could not believe my eyes. The profile even had an Airtel number now, I tried calling this number in India and always the message is "Switched Off". The name of this girl was Juliet Cumba. LMAO.

  7. Today 8th of Jan 2010, I again received a proposal from a similar profile: newf1041712 which I promptly denied.

Conclusion: Would you want to pay for a service like this? I am even worried now about the credit card details of mine which they possess. I won’t recommend this SIMPLYMARRY scam to even my worst enemy. After all these adventures I had I thought it must be a good idea to share this with all of you so that you don’t waste your money on this. And finally, I still did not get any response from the girl I liked.:)
