Singapore is a very surprising sort of city.!

I’ve just read the other ops written on the topic and they are excellent pieces, so once again I will not chunk up my review with what others have already done, like places to go. i’ll do the other stuff abt singapore that u won’t know abt... unless u have lived there, which I have!

now for clubs in the town area....

What I did enjoy myself was just wandering around the city, taking it in and digging the scene. There are a number of interesting areas of the city, like the Indian quarter, the Arab quarter and around the river. The most interesting thing I found with Singapore was the mixture of Western and traditional style buildings, with little temples nestled between modern developments. The public transport in the city is excellent, with the buses and trains both very easy to negotiate.

The weather in Singapore is pretty much the same all year round: hot and humid. When I was there, every day the temperature hovered at around 38c. I would definitely advise sun cream, even it doesn’t seem like you’ll need it: I managed to burn the back of my neck pretty bad whilst wandering around.

Singapore has frequently been called a paradise for food and coffee lovers and

this is certainly well exemplified in Chinatown. The place is replete with coffee shops serving up cups of fragrant kopi-o (local black coffee), which most Singaporean’s seem addicted to.

Ahh, my main loves in live, alca-mar-ol, fodder….then SHOPPING and Singapore is my most favourite place to shop in the world.

Scotts Road and Orchard Road pretty much sit in a t-shape & whilst staying in Singapore, most visitors will probably stay in this area, which is about half an hour or so from Changi Airport.

First shopping centre on Scotts, Far East Plaza is good for jewellery, If you are into your trainers and want to get a really nice pair of Nike’s then Far East Plaza is definitely the best place to go, recently a lot of trainer boutiques have started popping up. If Japanese style kitsch is what you are after (little things to hang off your mobile phones, flashing stickers, basic nick nacks), cutsie tops and shoes with little “Japanese” style slogans on them this is the place to go. Shop in the likes of Smith, Temple, Trengganu, Pagoda and Telok Ayer streets. You will discover wooden chopsticks, tiny porcelain teacups, antique Chinese coins, teapots, incense burners and a veritable host of inexpensive knick-knacks. The place to sample traditional Chinese medicines in one of the exotic Chinese medical halls. You can even get a personalised seal of your own Chinese zodiac sign. You can also buy all manner of scolls, paintings and offbeat antiques in fascinating Chinatown. Here you can bargain-indeed you are expected to haggle and then haggle some more.

My only shopping tip for you is please, please, please try and dress like a local otherwise you will be completely taken for a mug – the mentality out there is tourists have money to spend and are stoopid! Singapore is a much more “cosmopolitan” city than others in Asia, it is completely acceptable to wear mini skirts & strappy tops!

There is a fantastic open zoo, which is clean and the animals look happy, there is an amazing shipping port which is one of the busiest in the world.

Singapore is a small island with big personality, and lots of designer shops, heaven.

Sqeaky clean Singapore has a justifiably good reputation for its tough measures aimed at ensuring a good, clean, built environment and there is also attention paid to preserving the bits of greenery that remain on the Island. One such place is the well regarded Singapore Botanic Garden.

The Garden organises an imaginative set of worksops and tours such as a Treasure Hunt for Children, Pond Ecology, Looking at Plants, Flowers at Work, Eco Garden Tours, Rainforest Trekking, Orchid Tours, Herbs and Spices Tour, Heritage Trees tours, and Time Journey in the Evolution Garden. The authorities certainly give a very high priority to environmental education.

For the casual visitor there is lot to see and do . Among activities there are opportunities for Birdwatching, Camping, Cycling, Fishing, History Trails, Kite Flying and Trekking. Locals off go there are enjoy a barbecue or picnic in the sun.

Overall, I would say that Singapore is worth visiting. In many ways, it’s a perfect stop over destination, as it really is a city you can see pretty much all of it in a few days. Although I was having a great time, I really couldn’t imagine staying there any longer than 5-7 days. To be honest, I do feel like i’ve prety much seen it all, and nice as it is, I wouldn’t really expect to return there.

hope this has been an entertaining read!
