After a about 5 hour night flight from Mumbai with barely 3 hours of sleep I first landed at Singapore to be informed that the connecting flight to Kuala Lampur was to be boarded a few (about 10)Transits away ! I was quite sunk! I was just begining to wonder whether I would ever be able to see the Transit No. 10 at all. But as soon as I was in the lounge of the Airport I was amazed and delighted to come across ’’Passenger conveyor system’’ !! It gave me a child like thrill to board the conveyor with my trolley and cross one Transit after another. And after what seemed like an endless spate of ’fun’ rides I was actually disappointed to reach Transit 10 despite my fatigue.
So here I was transported to a place that could well surpass a Shopping Complex of some of the elite 5 star Hotels. The soft music, A chance to win the latest model of Mazda that included everyone Transiting Changi that day ! All seemed as though festivities were in air.
The ambience was so exciting and luxurious. The cloakrooms stacked with tissues, small soaps etc. all amply portrayed the care Singapore had for people visiting it or transiting it. This time I reluctantly boarded my flight to KL.
A few years later I returned to Changi with my wife and baby. And I remember that while I filled my immigration form many immigration girls at the counters were thrilled and playing with our baby !
Moving thru SIngapore I realised that Changi reflected Singapore in every way. Therefore from helpful singaporeans to great toilet conveniences which included diaper changing tables at all Singapore attractions and on its MRT stations every place was PLAZA. Watch it, Changi and SIngapore are extremely addictive.
