I was driving back from Mangalore this monday. There were two cars ahead of me - a Hyundai Accent and a Skoda 1.9 TDI.
I was in the mood for a race and started hassling the Accent guy. I managed to overtake him without much problem.
Now for the Skoda. Or so I thought.
I was doing about 120-130 kmph and jamming the accellerator through the floor but the Skoda just stayed ahead of me. I managed to get close to him and was trying to go past but the Skoda guy just stepped on the gas a bit and he went ahead each time.
The driver appeared to be an expert because I didnt see a flash of the brake light at all. Either that or his lights didnt work!!
Anyways he zooped ahead and then slowed down for me to catch up. I managed to overtake him on a slope and was then determined not to let him go ahead. I stayed ahead for only a couple of kilometers. I was driving at the limits of the Accent and taking some stupid risks.
Along came a stretch of road and I could see the Skoda in the side view mirror. I thought ’’hell with this No way I can stay ahead’’. And he just zoomed past me while I was doing 120. I estimated his speed at atleast 130 or 140 kmph.
Also on the bad stretches of highway the skoda didnt flinch or lose balance. It stayed on course and the body was extremely stable.
Good fun overall.
I’m gonna buy that Skoda somehow. Gotta start saving money.
