Hi Guys!
I just wanted to give my opinion on 1.9 Diesel Rider. I first drove a fiesta diesel and it had extremely silent, vibration free (infact I was left wondering whether I was driving petrol or diesel car!!!) and extremely peppy engine.
Few minutes later I drove a Rider diesel. My first experience upon starting - too many vibrations and too much sound of the engine. What use is buying a 12 lac car if it gives a headache while driving? In the first 2 gears, there were too many vibrations and it was too noisy... (the roadways bus feeling) but the cars shock absorbers were highly efficient. I picked up a road that had a lot of pot-holes and virually felt nothing! (as compared to my rides with fiesta diesel and Civic on the same road). That way Skoda was good. Another plus point - comfy seats and sturdy body
Frankly I was pretty disappointed with the engine sound and vibration of Skoda and will instead buy a Fiesta or Accent CRDI (fiesta being first choice). This was one MAJOR disappointment that I faced. More cons - Extremely expensive services. Clutch too hard.
Through this post, my intention is only to caution people about the possible cons, no harm intended. I have just now (while writing this sentence) been advised to go in for Fiesta Diesel and so it will be!
