Nothing so far, regarding mechanics and general performance.

Solid look & build, it’s not Peugeot or Honda handling, but does the job quite well, above average. Acceleration it’s a bit sluggish from 0 to 60 km/h, but after wards goes like a rocket. Engine delivers plenty of power and torque (approx. 80% of total available) in the midrange (2.000 to 4.000 rpm)

Executive look, person inside is very well represented, not a teenager-look car like the Polo, for instance looks like a family car, however you can add 16’’ alloy wheels and a rear spoiler and then the look ’’slightly’’ changes to one of a more ’’performance’’ car.

The dual floor in the estate gives a level loading platform and space underneath to hid valuables and other belongings from general view.

The suspension gives a supple ride over speed humps and poor quality surfaces. - very comfortable It does handle quite well and have plenty of power.

The 1.8T engine is the same unit that powers the Audi A3/A4 and VW Bora/Passat - 20-valves, variable valve timing and the K03S turbo. It has a smooth delivery with very little lag and provides ample power. Quiet when cruising, it also sounds good when worked hard.

The 4-speed automatic gearbox is smooth and changes quickly, never leaving you stuck in the wrong gear. Gearing is quite long and as a result initial pull-away is quite leisurely, but quickly picks up. This is where the extra 1.5s to 60 is compared to the manuals. 75mph in 2nd gear however means overtaking is effortless and the car feels quick.

The instruments are very clear and controls fall easily to touch. The panel light is adjustable and there is a headlamp level control.

The interior is smart and well made - no squeaks or rattles and everything works properly. Road and wind noise are well controlled, and the seats are comfortable. At first the seats appear very hard, this is a Germanic trait, but one soon gets used to this and on longer journeys the firm seats actually add to comfort.

The Climatronic air-conditioning works extremely well and is a ’’set and forget’’ system. It can take a while to cool the car if it has been standing in the sun though. The climate control ensures comfort in all weather conditions and there is an electric sunroof, if the need for natural sunlight is felt.

Other features such as cruise control and parking sensors work very well.

It is hard for me to fault this car, especially at the price.
