TEA brand that ties Society!

I used Society Leaf Tea sometimes 28 years back and what has turned only the preferred brand in our kitchen. I don’t really remember what brands I used before. The first time I chose Society tea was when as a bachelor, I had to purchase a tea pouch and carry it to Bangalore from Pune. Unknowingly I liked the royal blue pouch for its transportability. Then on, it(Society Tea) became my only preferred tea source. Well, the brand has history right since pre-independence. The Chai Galli in Masjid Bunder is famous for tea trading, mostly loose, in powder form. Hiravan Pranjivandas, during 1924, had his wholesale mart there, what within a decade reformed into Hasmukhrai & Co, pioneering their outlet in Kalbadevi in Mumbai, Maharastra. Since 1991, they have started packaged tea in packets. The company has several allied range products in the dairy category too. The strict hygienic standards and a high level of quality and excellence are seen maintained in the Tea variance.

I am used to the Society leaf powder as the feel and form are just what’s required. The granules are in moderate size and texture. You can test nature simply by handling a tablespoon powder with bare fingers. You will observe no powdery duct stick on your fingertips. The granules are also not that thick, as we never see a woody residue in the strainer after filtering tea. The precaution should be taken not to boil the tea too high, especially before pouring milk. The taste is just right and lingering. The proportion of mixing is constantly maintained for years. I found the quantity required for a unit volume of a cup of tea in economical too. We use approx. 10 grams of powder per cup of tea.

The refill pouches are economical as they are sturdy and maintain the flavor and tenderness of the tea leaf powder for a long time. When scarcity, I even mixed Society tea in regular brands or with loose tea powder. The jar containers are worth storing dry consumables in the kitchen.

This is my personal opinion about the product. Readers are free to have their own brand in tea continued with. Enjoy sipping your tea!
