Director: Luv ranjan
Cast: Kartik aaryan, Nushrat bharucha, Sunny Nijar and more.
Sonu ke titu ki sweety is about two best friends where Titu(sunny nijar) is the naive guy who gets used by the girls he dates and Sonu(Kartik aaryan) his best friend who helps him out through every situation. Titu then meets the perfect girl and falls for her but Sonu is skeptical and thinks the girl sweety(Nushrat bharucha) is too good to be true and we have a movie.
Sonu ke titu ki sweety is quite a mouthful and honestly it took a while for me to remember the name properly. I am going to be as objective as possible and say that I think this film is quite overrated. The film has its moments but most of it feels like filler.
Kartik aaryan is basically the protagonist of the film isnt anything spectacular but does an okay job. The films main theme is friendship but the friendship between the two leads isnt well developed and that is due to the fact that Titu(Sunny nijar) doesnt do much of anything in the film. The film decides to focus more on Kartik aaryans character than the friendship between Sonu and titu. Nushrat bharucha is pretty good in the film and gets more importance in the film than titu. Alok naths character was quite entertaining and has some of the best scenes in the whole film. The rest of the cast is full of good actors but were not as memorable as they shouldve been.
The films mysogynistic themes dont ruin the film but they dont make it better either. There are plenty of filler scenes throughout the film to make up for a plot that is very thin. There are some comedic moments that work and a lot that dont and the film on many occasions relies on swearing to get a laugh out of the audience. Overall the comedy is just meh.
I understand why it is being loved so much but for me it was quite boring. Sonu ke titu ki sweety fails for not doing its main theme any justice and the abundance of filler. When it comes to my recommendation I would say its up to you. You may like it even though I did not. Im gonna go with 1.5/5 stars.
