I had bought this TV in March 2016 in a famous Retail Store(Vasanth & Co.) in Chennai. I also purchased a V-guard Stabilizer along with it as per the advice given by the salesman. TV installation was done within 3 days and it was mounted on the Stand. Then we got the Airtel DTH-HD connection and started viewing the TV. Both the audio and video quality were excellent and it was a treat for our eyes and ears. I connect my Gaming CPU to the TV by HDMI port and the Gaming experience was awesome. One year later around May 2017 the real problem started.
One fine day while I was playing "Project cars" game, mild vertical lines started appearing on the TV screen. I felt that the local HDMI cable which I used would have been the culprit and so replaced it immediately with a high quality one. But still the vertical lines didnt disappear. Immediately I tried with the Airtel DTH connection, the lines were still there. I called the Sony service centre and explained the problem. The reply was a great shock to me. They remarked that theLED Display Panel is gone and it cannot be repaired and only be replaced. I asked him how is it possible for the panel to become faulty within 14 months in a highly priced premium branded TV. He replied saying that this may happen due to power fluctuations in the supply or manhandling the TV. I told him that im using the same stabilizer which was suggested by the dealer and I handled the TV with utmost care. Then I asked him the price to replace the LED PANEL, he replied it is around rs.19500. I was shocked to hear this reply as the warranty had already expired two months back.
I then realized that it is a total waste of money to buy a Premium TV for around 50k and then spend 19.5k for its repairs within a year. So instead of replacing the LED panel, I bought a VU LED TV from flipkart and it is going good. So I would advise everyone to go for a low cost LED TV as the branded ones are not reliable and the average life of an LED Tv is around 4 years(irrespective of brand)
