I recently got myself a sony dvp ns728hp, it is priced in the same range as a philips hdmi dvp which I already have back home, so I thought why not give sony dvp a try..
This one comes with a free hdmi cable and has features like bravia-sync, usb playback, and a remote which works with even with a bravia tv....picture quality is great, and audio is also good, but now comes some things that make it a lesser choice for DiVX users...
A 2gb+ avi file doesnot plays, it just says loading...loading and nothing happens....other divx/xvid avi files work well...sony doesnt support .idx/.sub subtitles, so for divx avi, subrip .srt have to be used as subtitles....also, the interface is a bit confusing, it took me a little time to find out how to activate usb playback....so, if you are willing to spend 4900/-, go for a philips dvp as it overcomes all the shortcomings mentioned...
