This is my review on Mouthshut. My decision is to post a review on K700i splashed on my mind, b’se I had doubts on buying the K700i afer using the nokia phones for couple of years. So this review is purely based upon the experiences with nokia and the current experience with SE. this will not contain technical features, but contains the expericence with the goodie.
I was a hardcore nokia user, basically not high end level phones. my inital phones were 3310, 2100 and 7250i. the requirements which I had were SMS typing, better voice quality and easy usage. all above mentioned phones were working finely under hardcore conditions of a boy and fulfilling my requirements. 2 months back I decided to buy a new one with cool features(whch had become a fashon now!) such MP3, Big Display, Bluetooth ..and so on..
my initial sight went upon 3 phones in the market since budget mattered a lot.
they were k700i, nokia 6600 and nokia 3230. infact I wanted to buy the 3230 due to the features annouched also other phones were inconsideration.
this time my initial requirements were good display and sound qualitity(MP3 specially).
6600 lost out due to sound quality and 3230 was not preferred since the operating speed is low also was not recommended by the many dealers and well wishers due to continus S/W clash.
Without no option I bought K700i with doubts, let me explain the experience below.
(These comparisons made upon same budget, category phones which fits also it is written upon average user level)
Display Quality is Excellent - there are plenty of downloadble themes available. while choosing the themes or wallpapers make sure the picture is bright. bright pictures adds more pleasent to the screen.
Sound quality is Excellent - I compared with other nokia phones, SE beats in the sound quality, specially the MP3 ringtones can add some fuzz to life. listen to cool songs in inbulid MP3, eventhoug memory is not expandable(43 MB inbuild)
Camera and Video - on bright sunlight pics are really good eventhough it’s VGA, but in dark indoors it isnt’ (anyway it’s not a Digital Camera)... video is OK when you hold in one place, but continous movement of hand spoils the video.
User Friendly - Initial days joystick was bit confusing, after getting used to it, it’s fine.
i must say Menu is user friendly, sometimes there is s/w hanging is there when you use it thinking it is 3310. smoother usage is recommened.
turning to speaker phone is confusing as like nokia it’s really easy.
SMS typing - SMS typing is bit hard initial days , after some days it’s fine. I don’t blame the keypad for it’s tight on typing. once you get used to it , it’s fine. however just like nokia where you can send the same msg to different people , by pressing the back button is not here. after SMS is sent you will have a fresh new screen, sometimes I feel this annoying.
Call Records - It’s possible to find the last call details but it’s impossible for to see the history of a particular number.
Data Transfer - Bluetooth is cool and works nicely and also the IR.
however I think this is a good phone for the value of the money and features considered. if you are in tight budget considering cool features and look u can go for it.
