This phone's not good...

The Sony Ericsson K750i is a phone that comes with more than its fair share of good to great features. The best of these is its awesome camera.

The K750i has one of the best 2 megapixel cameras in the market. The camera in the phone can be used just like a digital camera- It has all the features a regular digicam should have. It takes fabulous pictures in various conditions and in many modes. A new feature found in the K750i is auto focus. It improves the picture quality by keeping correct focus. A half press on the shutter button is supposed to indicate focus, and a long press takes the picture.

Another new feature found in this phone is macro focus. This increases picture quality when taking close up pictures of insects, flowers etc.

The K750i camera lens is protected with a sliding cover that’s easy to open and close with one hand, without turning the phone around to find the slider.

The camera application operates in horizontal mode so you will have to turn the phone 90 degrees counter clockwise to capture pictures and adjust camera application menu settings.

The pictures can either be stored in the memory card or in the phone memory. It is one of the best cameras I’ve ever seen on a 2 megapixel phone. Except for the new K series phone by Sony Ericsson, the only phone cameras that can equal the K750i are those in the pricier Nokia Nseries.

Picture/video quality and size: Picture quality in the K750i is amazing. It takes both normal and fine pictures. It can take large pictures(163281224), medium pictures(640480) and small pictures(160*120).The average size of a 2 megapixel picture is around 450kb.

The video sizes are large(176144) and small (12896). The videos in the K750i is of decent quality for a phone. These are good when viewed on the phone screen, but clarity suffers when the videos are viewed on the computer in a larger screen. The phone also plays mp4 videos. Depending on where the videos are stored, you can record until the memory in the memory card or the phone memory is full.

Night mode and Flash: Night mode in the K750i is very good. In extremely bad light the picture looks a bit grainy but when in a dimly lit room or in a place with low light it takes good pictures. The flash stays on all the time when a video is being taken. The flash in the camera is fantastic. It is so bright that it can even be used as a torch light.

Self-timer: When the self timer mode is activated, the area around the shuter button starts to light up and blink. It blinks for five seconds after which it blinks rapidly for a few seconds and then takes the picture.

Effects: This phone has 4 different effects:black and white, sepia, negative and solarize

White balance: The five modes under white balance are auto, day light, cloudy, fluorescent and incandescent.

Shoot modes: The four shoot modes are normal, panorama, frames and burst. In panorama mode you can take three pictures and join them. For example you can take 3 pictures of a room and join them.I took 3 pictures of the room I stayed in Kerala and joined them together. The effect is seamless.

In frames mode you have 24 frames. For example behind bars frames.

In burst mode it takes 4 pictures one after the other. For example if you take a picture of a person kicking a ball, it will take four pictures of him one after the other and you can see every step of the move.

The K750i is not only good for its camera but it is also a great value for money phone. It is bluetooth and IR enabled, and has 34MB built in memory with the option of expansion with memory cards. Reception is excellent, battery lasts for more than a week on stand by and gives you a minimum of 8 hours of gaming and talk time combined. Speaker quality could be better/louder, but graphics are good.

Overall, it is a great phone, and at a price of just over Rs.10, 000 is super value for money too.

This phone’s not good - it’s great!
