P800 - Value for Money

I have always been a Nokia phone fan and have had almost 10 different Nokia models in the past.

About a year ago I bought a P800 from the Grey Market for Rs.20, 000. At first getting the phone was not easy as it was not in stock and much in demand because of the low price (its higher version P900 was launched at that time and carried a price tag of about Rs.35, 000). My budget was max Rs. 25, 000 so I decided to go for a P800 and added a 128 meg memory stick to it which cost me about Rs. 2, 900 (Sony accessories are much more expensive than Nokia).

I have now become a fan of Sony Ericsson and I?m very happy with my phone and don?t think I will change it in the near future. Although I love the P910i, which is a beautiful phone but has a heavy price tag of about Rs. 36, 000.

I also purchased a Sony Bluetooth Headset HBH602 for Rs.3, 600 in December and it works beautifully with my P800

The good things about the phone are:

1. Everything comes in the box ? Sync Station, Extra Stylus, Carry case etc. which you may not get with other brands.

2. The Jog Dial is a very user friendly thing and makes operating the phone very easy

3. There are a lot of powerful applications that can be installed on the phone and are easily available

4. The phone is very fast ? I have compared it to some of the Nokia?s running Symbian OS and the P800 is much faster

5. External Antenna socket ? the P800 has an external antenna socket where you can attach an external antenna (in case you are in remote areas where network is weak). I have seen many people using this in places like Africa. Most ofthe other brands dont have this.

6. It is not a very common phone like the Nokia so people do notice it!

The bad things:

1. Camera resolution may not be as some of the new Nokias but most of the pictures I have taken with the phone are very clear and sharp

2. Accessories are Expensive ? Sony Memory stick costs twice the amount of a Nokia Memory card

To Sum it up I think the P800 is am amazing phone, I spent totally about Rs, 26, 000 (incl accessories) but I got a Real Value For Money Phone.
