I have been a huge fan of the Nokia brand ever since I got my first mobile way back in 1994. Over the period of 12 years I have been using all their latest models. When I got the 6600 in 2003. I went over to the Sony Ericsson counter at the mall. And I saw their model P800. Because I had already purchased the 6600 I dint venture further, but the thought of what if I had gone to the SE counter instead of the Nokia lingered on.
Then came the P900 and the P910i. I thought this was the time I progressed from the 7710 I had to the SE P910i.
Retailing at the 43000 mark in 2005, the cost was one of the highest for phones at that time. I bought the phone in July 2005 and have been using it since. The review is based on the aspects I enjoy most in the phone and some of the cons as well:
Features:
A power packed Symbian UIQ phone, it offers great value for money. From the extensive suite of Office applications to the RIM email support, the phone is an absolute must for the business executive who wants perfrmance and range of applicability being mobile.
Pre installed applications covering almost all types of applications and a host of readily available third party downloads make it a upgrade happy phone.
Being a touch screen, using the stylus gets a little used to, but since I was using the 7710 before I got used to it.
Music player built in is of excellent quality and delivers stereo music in almost all supported formats.
The camera is not maybe as good as the latest mega pixel camera phones, but we cant have it all now can we. Also the 262K colour screen deserves a mention here. The colours are very vibrant and bright. Though the 7710 beats it in resolution as it is 640 X 320 where as the SEP910i is 240 X 320.
Ease of use:
The phone takes a bit of getting used to, but once we use it for a week or so, it really becomes a breeze to use. The jog dial is also very responsive and an added boon for user friendliness.Maybe they keyboard on the underside of the flip is way too small for people with huge fingers like mine. But overall very easy to use.
Coverage and Battery:
Good network coverage and I never felt the connection or voice breaking. Battery would last you for a day with reasonable usage.
Cost and Value for money:
The cost at present i think is about 28k and I think its value for money for the feature that this phone has.
Bottom line:
Well if you are looking for the ultimate performance mobile and have 28k as spare cash lying in our back pocket...go for it... also the latest from the P series is P990i which has more features including a 2 megapixel camera, but comes for a whooping 45K..so if you have 45k in spare change both back pockets included go for the P990i.
