I have always been using ERICSSON phones since GSM started in India and one reason which attracted me towards ERICSSON phones was their reliability , robustness, voice clarity and ability to work even in weakest of signals. This year in March , I went for T200 -Sony Ericsson. Apart from the features I mentioned above , this time I was more attaracted towards SonyEricsson because of the size of these phones and looks . The T200 weighs around 85 grams and looks sleek. At the price of the T200 , u will not find anyother phone as sleek as T200 and the features too. Now comes the worst part : I STRONGLY RECOMMEND ALL FRIENDS NOT TO GO FOR SONYERICSSON , ATLEAST IN INDIA. REASONS :
For T200 Sony Ericsson claims a talktime of 3 to 13 hours and beleive me I am very near to my service provider’s BTS hence there is no additional load on the phone and despite this I just get a talk time of only 55 minutes to be precise. As such I always carry an additional battery and the charger with me.
SonyEricsson claims that a standbytime time of 140-220 hours and beleive me it is not more than 50 hours.
Now here is the best part . U can see from their website it is clearly mentioned that T200 can hold upto 300 contacts in the phone book and the phone will also allow u to add 300 contacs but as soon as u reach the limit of 300 in your phone book , all the memory related features in your phone like Call list , SMS storage / capacity , Adding User groups , Adding Appointements etc. will cease to work. Even if u have a space/storage left on the SIM , the phone will not still allow u to store anything on the SIM. U will have no info. in the call list . The phone will be a black box and will behave like a zombie. It is no where mentioned that other functions / capacities/memory will be available only and only if the Phone Book Contact capacity is not exceeded beyond 240 or 250. I have esclated this to SonyEricsson but the response I got is that the phone is designed to handle only 250 contacts. 4. VERY POOOOOOOOOOOR SUPPORT or should I say they have a startegy of sell and forget. They will make u to wait / run / call for weeks and weeks , only to hear , ’Call next week’. MORAL/NUTSHELL IF U GET HOLD OF SOME OLD ERICSSON PHONE PLEASE GO FOR IT BLINDFOLDED BUT IF SOMEBODY OFFERS U A SONYERICSSON EVEN FREE OF COST PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT IT. DIALLING A NUMBER WHCICH IS STORED IN YOUR SIM IS A PAIN , U HAVE TO AT LEAST PRESS 3 BUTTONS TO DIAL A NUMBER FROM SIM.
