Low Durability

I bought this phone on Aug 20th, 2004 for Rs 5000, and it gave me good service for more than a year and a half. But soon after the Warranty period ended it started giving me problems like switching off from time to time or at the press of any button, and emitting a intermitant beep continuously. when I approach the service centre people they tell me that it has a hardware problem as an internal component was damaged. The estimated repair cost as indicated as Rs 2600. (which is more than half the price of the phone and almost the cost of a branded new phone). I pointed out to the Service Centre that the new T-230 are now available at low price and the repair charge of Rs. 2600 is too high. They promised to come back with a more economical solution. Its already over one month since I gave the phone to the Service centre and I am still waiting for their revised proposal.

I can say that I had liked the phone and took every care to handle and keep it right . And even if the phone was accidently dropped once or twice, it is very disappointing to see a product of a company like Sony Ericsson be with such low durability and exhorbitant repair cost. I feel Sony Erricsson should improve on their QC standards to give their product more handling tollerance and a longer life.
