Slow and Trendy wins the Race?

A low-cost-feature-rich-handset-with-painfully-slow-response-time is how I’d best describe this beauty from Global Giants: Sony Ericsson.

Requirement

After I was totally disgusted with my rude Nokia 3310 (In 1 month flat!), I decided to my treat myself with a handset that has a personality … a soul … a handset that is trendy, feature rich, has MMS, GPRS, etc. Sony Ericsson had launched this beauty just one week back and I went to check it out at my fave. dealers shop and I was stunned, awed by its looks n feel, features, etc. I went back, did some google search, read some reviews (nothing was there on Mouthshut, again)… and as everything was positive so I bought it for 9600/-. The nearest competitor was Nokia 3650… but its looks still make me feel like puking!

Sony Ericsson T310 Review

Official Technical specification list is very long and no sense in putting it over here, so if you are interested you can go to:

To summarize it all, it is a lowest priced color handset that supports GPRS, MMS, etc. You can download new games if you are bored with the current ones, you can download your pictures, friends pics, etc. Assign different Pics to an entry in the phone book… it has got an IR port with which you can connect your laptop and get hooked to net on the move, which means its got an internal Modem... 10 Min sound recorder, FM Radio hands free, You can attach camera to it… I can keep on talking about features of this phone forever…

But after using it for 3-4 months now… I have seen some shortcomings; also, there are several features that I hardly use which uselessly eat up phone resources. There are several critical Bugs that I did not expect from Sony Ericsson guys.

Painfully slow

As all good things come with a price… in this case too, all the features put a hefty load on its tiny processor, making it tooooooooo slow. Even minor operations take enough time to irritate you.

It reboots

During a call or come playing session, the device automatically reboots, for no apparent reason!

Hanging Tough

It hangs, if (sometimes) while playing a game, a call comes in. Sometimes it comes back to life after few seconds… other times I have to take the battery off! Worst part is you cant know who called up as its not there in the incoming call list!

Even though it has above mentioned negative points, I still would not call it as a bad phone and recommend to all those who want a feature rich phone. And bugs I mentioned rarely happen and phones’ positive points are way ahead of its negative points.

Actually my point of view w.r.t a cell phone has changed... who needs all the cryptic features all the times? It has MMS but where should I the MMS to? nobody else has it! now I think the best phone is that has all the basic features, its convenient in use and is simple...

If you do not agree with me and have a fetish for hi-features… then go for T310… I definitely recommend it :)

Thanks!
