Fit n entertained
Finally, a music phone featuring a slim sliding construction, light effects and a pedometer to fulfill all your daily music and sports needs. The handset comes complete with a 2megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, FM radio and a flashy design.
The retail package contains a 1GB card.
The On/Off button is at the top of the lower part of the handset. Its well sunk into the body, and not exposed to accidental presses.
The rear side of the handset is very neat and practical. There youll only find the manufacturer logo and the Walkman series symbol. Half of the rear panel is taken by the battery cover. Removing it is quite an ordeal, the cover just wont move. Youll be forced to use a pointed tool or rather long nails for inserting and removing the SIM card.
Keypad locks automatically upon sliding the phone closed.
The different size options for the digital clock are the only interesting thing. Users will likely welcome the possibility to use animated wallpapers or third-party UI themes.
*Applications*
The real good thing (mostly not found for sonyericsson phones) is that different types of applications (utilities, dictionaries, games, etc) could be loaded in the phone in form of jar or jad file type.
Every time you turn on the W580, it will prompt switching to flight mode with all wireless transmissions disabled. The inconvenience here is that the offline mode too requires an inserted SIM.

Music and Fun
Music can be enjoyed on the not so good loudspeaker. You can also use your own headset with the standard 3.5 mm audio jack. The A2DP-enabled Bluetooth makes wireless stereo headphones arguably the best option.
Entertainment is enhanced by an FM radio
Walkman really Walk
A key benefit of the Sony Ericsson W580 is the integrated fitness application. Next to walking, theres a running function. Among Java applications youll find the Pocket Trainer, showing various details about training sessions. The Pocket Trainer also has a sporting quiz likely to be enjoyed by sport fans.
Thanks to the USB Mass Storage support no driver installation is necessary. In File Transfer mode however the phone is unusable and cant receive calls.
Web access is ensured through WAP and the NetFront browser.
disadvantages Camera lacks flash and autofocus Only 12MB of integrated memory Records video in the outdated QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) resolution only FM songs could not be saved in the phone The pedometer falsely counts the shakes while traveling, etc. The battery life is not more than a day. Some of the ‘nice’ themes eat battery (as they vibrate). Sliding mechanism little shaky
