Really ... Now that I have sat down to write this review I am getting a flashback of how I got to get this phone... It was a cheerful evening when my dad said "come on son I am going to buy you yourbirthday present" I was not really excited as I never really trusted my dad to make on the spot decisions when it came to purchase for mobile phone....
But this is not a review of my dad..... So we went to Agani switch first and mydad being the perfect stereotype said that he would only buy me a NOKIA as I already owned a samsung and had to take it to the service center twice in one year flat (the second time they said that the motherboard has burned out but it was under warrenty, just a week over, so they changed it free of cost). Well thats just how I am I took my laptop to the sevice center 10 times and its not even a year till now
Neway comeing back to how I bought the phone.... We first went to Agani switch where the sales man showed a lot of phones and this was amongst none of them.They were Motorola V3i, S7, N6600, etc and I was quite addiment that I dontwant a main stream and common phone, so we went out hunting again.... My main criteria was a good power back up, camara, and MP3. I dint mind a Nokia but would love to avoid it as long as possible.. Next ve entered a Soney
diatributer... all our home appliences are from that shop only so the shop keeper were quite courtious
and he showed all the phone and one of them was this... I was actually thinking that this is the same as W800i wen the box came and I was expecting a White phone with orange side walls... I was disappointed.
Neway with much expectations I brought it home... listened to the preloaded songs for some time on the speaker (pity it has a small slit for the speaker when its younger sister the w550i has 3) ok so it was not what I expected but i hoped that it would be better then my friends who were still stuck in the N6600
era..... I was again wrong. My only reconciliation is that the headphones are Sony and sound clarity on them is superb... MAN THEY CAN CUT OUT NOISE OF TRAFFIC... Bad if you are driving good if you want to listen to quality music
Next came the turn of the camera, a simple slide of the shutter and vola the camera starts even if the keypad is locked!!!! MAAN IS THAT GONNA CONSUME
!!!! The first few pics were superb....... the 4X zoom......Dint work... as it turns out that at large picture size there is no zoom, at medium it is 2X and in small do you get a full 4X zoom that too Digital!!! The good part about
is that you can zoom in and out while recording a video.... a novelty considering my cyber shot doesn’t have this facility
The pre loaded games on the phone are pretty boring but it can take java games through the data cable. and that data cable comes with the package (an additional cost of Rs1200 in case of Nokia). Recently I found a great site which gave me hell lot of games (61 in the 1st file I downloaded from the 3
available for my phone) these games were saves as Jar file in my others folders and I could send them as installers to other people!!! Suddenly I was popular amongst my college mates... sadly now the first question I am asked is
"Koi Naya game aaya kyaa".... one great thing about this is that it
does not run on simbian platform so even when I accept a virus file it is saves
to the others folder and I can delete it at my own convenience (better than
NOKIA)
The only drawback I see of this phone is that it is a tad too expensive when
looking at the expectation prospective.... I expected a decent MP3 player... I
got it but the speaker was not as I expected, I wanted a camera...... The zoom
dint interest me one bit yet its 2 megapixels are a pleasure to see
There are other features that have become so normal to use now that 7200 characters
are too short and my review will get too long so I’ll just list them
Radio- nothing great can be comparable with others. One good thing is that you
just need to connect the lower part of the hands free and can listen to it on the speaker which is not too great
Flash light (for the camera)- that is really bright and doubles up as a torch
and is available at almost a single touch
Video DJ- one sexy software
Walkman- Gr8 but what I dint get is that almost all the new non walkman series phone come with a Media Player what’s the novelty???
Themes- I totally changeable and customizable
Computer software- my bro came home from hostel 2 weeks after I bought the phone and downloaded some stuff on the comp. I have been using that ever since
Dureability- I never thought it could stand a fall but it actually did stand through my driveing... and only the screen cracked when I drove over it.... alas its a shame that its service center is not up to the mark
Service center-- I have a serious grudge about the service center here in Noida. But I have heard that others are good. I have given my phone in for repairing the screen that I drove over and its been a week I haven’t got it back even though I was promised 2 days would be the max time taken…. Endless calls made to them go in vain as they don’t pick up the phone and even when they do they don’t talk properly and courtesy is nowhere in their dictionary
This is one beautiful phone marred by gross indifference to logic and if you can live with that you can easyly expect to hold on to the phone for atleast a year until you are egoistically bound
