Ive been using the W700i for the past 6 months. What made me buy it? For starters most everyone swears by their Nokias and I wanted something different to swear by :)
Well my W700i does almost everything perfectly, of course what it cant do perfectly, it just does not.
Am very happy with the ease of use of the phone, it most definitely is much easier to use than Nokia contrary to popular belief.
However, I feel that as a company Sony Ericsson is not dynamic enough to realise the shortcomings of their cellphones and put it right. There are a few basic irritating deficiencies in, as far as I know...ALL Sony Ericsson phones which can be remedied by the company very very easily, but I am surprised how they are doing nothing about it , are they are not even aware of these basic deficiencies??
- The calendar feature is pretty poor compared to Nokia. You cannot repeat a reminder entry every day, weekly, monthly or annually. Well if I need reminders to take my medicines each morning what the hell do I do?? Add reminders for each day seperately?? Very Silly.
2.Another thing is the birthdays. You just cannot enter birthdays directly into the calendar. You need to add the person to contacts and then add the birthday and add to calendar. Meaning if you need to remember a 3 year olds birthday.. you gotta have him in your phonebook as a contact. Haha.
The reminders DO NOT continously beep till turned off. You get a very soft and sad tinkle and then the reminder just sits on your screen till you happen to see it. Very easy to miss. totally useless I would say.
Another irritating thing is the call lists. The moment you call a number the second time, or recieve a call from the same number a second time, all details of the earlier call are no longer accessible.
Being a walkman branded phone I would have expected the speaker to be much louder.. it is very poor, though the ring level is great, so I guess this too is a sofware issue with Sony Ericsson.
These few glitches apart, its a great phone to own and to use. but it irks me how such a company is so apathetic to its product improvement programme , if there is any.
