The W700 is a twin model of the First generation W800 phone and it has everything that the W800 had except for the Auto focus camera. If you ask me the W700 was built for the indian market. It is not so expensive as the W800 but delivers almost everything the W800 had.
The first thing about the phone is the excellent battery life as a music player. It can keep going on for hours without any decrease in the battery levels. As a phone the battery is decent enough. I managed to use it past one day with heavy messaging and some phone calls. So as a phone the battery lasts around a day and a half.
Messaging is easy because of the T9 support.
The media department is always strong in Walkman phones. The phone has a great music player and it is really loud. Now that sony ericsson has released a slew of Walkman 2 devices people have started eyeing these phones but that doesnt mean the Walkman 1 player is outdated. In fact the Walkman 1 is a wee bit louder than the Walkman 2 player.
Camera is good as long as you dont shake the phone. Autofocus would have helped but that doesnt damage the picture quality much if you have a steady hand. One good thing about the phone is the camera shutter which dodges all the smudge and dust on the lens. The only let down from sony ericsson is the video recorder. The resolution is 176*144 and that is really outdated. The videos recorded are not worth flaunting.
Built in memory is 32 mb. Which is better than most phones these days that have just around 10 mb built in. The box comes with a 256 mb memory card. With the prices of memory cards dipping low it should be comfortable to go for a 512 or 1 gb card if you are a music freak.
The built in video player is good and can play 3gp and mp4 files pretty well. The FM radio is really worth it and is very simple to use. Scanning radio stations is a breeze and since it is Stereo radio the whole experience of listening to FM has been made more than comfortable and enjoyable.
The W700 does not have flash menus like the newer Walkman models. It resembles the K750 and W800 in the menu interface. The browser is good enough but the newer Walkman phones sport a RSS reader and Netfront browser.
Overall the phone is really worth the money you pay. It delivers more than what you pay for:
Walkman player and earphones
Great music and FM
Good battery life
Decent camera
Fast interface and Java applications
Lots of themes to customize the phone
Decent video player
Good sound reception
Simple and easy to use
What more can u ask for from a 10k mobile? If you are not a shutterbug then this is the best phone your money can get you. Else K750 is always an option for those who dont mind the normal music player(without walkman)
