W800i - 4 years on...

I bought the Sony Ericsson 800i in 2004 when it was first released in Europe. Prior to this, I had owned two Nokia phones and was apprehensive about switching to rival brand Sony Ericsson, despite it’s good reputation. I was also told that this model would only be available in the orange/white combination colour - not my favourite colour combination. Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and bought the phone and I’ve not regretted my decision.

The phone’s walkman is the main feature and I guess nothing needs to be said about Sony’s music quality. The music transfer software is very convenient and lets you rip CD’s and transfer music to your mobile. The headphones are very comfortable and are sold with a number of rubber plugs to fit different ear sizes.

The Menu is the easy to navigate and you get used to it quickly.

Display and graphics are excellent with a host of animated themes to choose from.

The joystick has not given me any problems in four years but the soft rubber top on the joystick has fallen off long back.

Battery life is excellent and talk time is over 2 hours on a full charge. Even when the battery is in the red, it can go on for a day on stand-by. After four years, this is some pretty awesome battery performance.

I haven’t used the camera much but the pics are good with 2 megapixel resolution.

I would definitely recommend the Sony Ericsson W800i or later models to anyone looking for the Sony Walkman.

Cheers,
