I bought this hard disk drive from sony online last year. I regret my decision, I only bought it because of its looks as it was better looking than others and my personal choice was seagte expansion but it was out of stock so I had to buy it. The delivery was pretty swift and I got it within 3 days of order. The sony hard disk is really nice and good looking because of its metal finish and lustrous body.
It worked pretty well for quite some time. The speed I got was also good while transferring.The hard disk started showing some problems within 2 months of buying. I used it basically to store small stuff only till 250-270 gb. But one day I had to back up my data so I transferred all my data into this hard disk and this is when the problem started.
The hard disk did not respond when I took it to a friend’s house even on his new laptop. I was not sure what the problem was so I tried on 2-3 more computers but it did not respond. I contacted the online seller but he said that replacement time is over so I would have to take it to the Sony service centre. When I took it there they told me to format all my data now this was a big problem because all my memorable photos would get deleted if I formated it . So unwillingly I had to take it to an external shop where I had to pay more money to recover my data and get the hard disk fixed.
After getting fixed the hard disk worked well for about 2 months and then the usb slot or the cable got lose so I had to hold the hard disk tightly when ever I had to transfer data. This was a very big headache. Again when I took it to the centre they said I had dropped the hard disk but I had not dropped it even once. When I said I had not dropped it they said as I had taken it to another service centre the warranty was off and asked for some more money. I did not wanted to spend even a single more money so I decided to throw it away and get a new one instead.
So GUYS DONT GO FOR THE GOOD LOOKS
