I happened to purchase a Digital MP3 player - SONY NS-11 from a famous outlet in Pondicherry, which was claimed to be 512 MB capacity. I started using the same immediately by storing very few songs, but stored data to an extent of around 250MB capacity. Just a day after I purchased it, I could see the device showing files from my computer HDD but are not really copied into it. When I tried to delete them from the device, they were neither getting removed nor allowing other files to get copied to the device.
Hence I formatted the same (FAT32). To my surprise, I noticed that the device capacity dropped to 119 MB from 496 MB. I took the same to the dealer and asked for reasons, which they are not able to clear and also did not take any responsibility either to replace the device or to rectify the same.
I DOUBT THE MEMORY WHICH THE DEVICE WAS SHOWING BEFORE FORMATTING, WAS A BUFFERED MEMORY.
I took the device to an Hardware Engineer, who checked the same said, the device is not original and is an item which is got manufactured in Mumbai. The CD which is supplied with the device is also not the one related to the device.
I have taken up this lesson at a cost of Rs. 1350, in One Day.
Those who have this device already, immediately approach the seller and check whether the CD is relevent to the Device, what you have. So that You can format or upgrade the same using it. If you are not sure, do not format the same, at all.
THIS SONY NS-11 DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE ONE WHICH IS APPEARING IN THIS PAGE. IT LOOKS LIKE A PEN DRIVE.
