I personally have had this Playstation thing (PSone) for perhaps now 3yrs, and yes it surely is the best buy for your money. Considering the fact that im no hardcore gamer as such, but yes, I do dig certain simulation and action games, the PS1 is the best buy for people like me. Come on, now im not a die hard, gaming freak to shell out a bomb for something like the PS2 (it IS quite expensive for me), and furthermore, I dont need anymore games to play with, the PS1 has enough games for me. Plus, I can even connect it with a video adaptor, an accessory for the PS1, and im off watching movies when the games get boring... :-p
Well about the case here in Delhi, the PS1 is very cheap, I got it for Rs. 12000/- (including the video card/adaptor) from the grey market, and this price that I had paid, is what im now regretting about! ... considering the fact that now the PS1 is available for as low as Rs.3000/- !!! Anyway, things change, prices fluctuate, but atleast the games are still rolling in, and believe me, the number of PS1 game titles out there is unbelievably huge!! Youre surely gonna get tired of owning the PS1 before the games get exhausted.
Buying from the grey market has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Firstly, it isnt right morally, to buy from some illegal market. Secondly, you get no warranty for the product, and no after sales service... but the only advantage is that, youre saving on a lot of bux, and that definitely makes sense if the product youre considering is something that you can definitely do without!! So for me, I opted for the grey market, but people, im not here encouraging you all for the same... ive had the bad effects too, like so many times the console would just stop playing... then what did I have to do?? Take the damn console myself to the guy and depend on some quack who I believe knew no more about the stuff than myself! But anyway, my PS1 always somehow made through its bad times. I also buy all the CDs from that same shop itself, where I get it dirt-cheap! Come on, what do you have to say, if the CD costs something like 995/- legally, and I get it for as low as Rs. 40/- !!! Now thats what im talking about. But then again, dont take me as some advisor to the grey market... some CDs never work! Some work, but dont play any sound!, well then as if to make up for it, some CDs only play the sound!! But then again, im happy as long as 2 out of 5 CDs I purchase finally work!!! lol...
So for all you gamers out there, if youre some DIE HARD GAMER, then nothing less than the PS2, but if youre some casual gamer like myself, then nothing more than the PS1. Yes, its the best buy for your money.
