Long time since I wrote a review on Mouthshut....
Feels good to be back.....haven’t acquired anythng new to share my thoughts on , so thought I’d start my comeback with this lil toy I acquired last year.....
Gited myself this on my own b’day last yr;-)
Enuff of this ’’Bhumika Bandhana’’ as my friends accuse me of when I am abt to start any story, let’s get to the point:
Pros:
- Doubles up as a DVD player if u r planningto buy a DVD player, might as well spend a bit more and get this instead
- No more PC upgrades: The reason why ppl upgrade their PCs every year is becoz their once latest m/c can’t run UT 2004 at even 10 fps, so they rush out and buy the latest graphics card/ additional RAM for a packet just to discovert thattheir m/c is outdated for the latest game again in >6 months......
Now I don’t need to upgrade my PC for the next few yrs becoz mos ppl’s existing PCs are good enuff for web-browsing, spreadsheets, word-editing etc for a long time to come (even a celeron 333 +64 MB RAM is good enuff for most things ppl do on their PCs except GAming)...so buy a console (PS2/X-Box) and ur PC will last long...really long (to the tune of the Amaron ad)
Superb controller: Dual shock 2 that u get with the console is universally acknowledged to be te most ergonomic Game controller designed.....Goodbye to ploughing away on ur KB ad seeing ur character dead coz u pressed the wron key....
Good titles: IMHO, these 5 titles (currently available) sud keep a normal Adult busy for at least 6 mnths to come:
-1) GTA Vice City (Action)
2) Burnnout -3 (Racing, IMO the best aracade racer ever)
3) Everything or Nothing (James Bond Third person shooter)...Bond...James Bond, need I say more
4) Final Fantasy X-2: Beautiful RPG
5) Silent Hill- III/IV: Survival Horror Action: The only game that has managed to scare me....
Hmmm..another point of importanc ehere is that though the PS2 is technicallly less powerful than its closest competitor X-Box, the wide game selection coupled with the easy aavailability of the titles makes PS2 the better choice
Cons:
Addidctive.....I’ve played games till 4-5 in the morning on weekdays and then not been able to wake up in the morn to reach office on time
Takes a toll on ur social life- Same as above
Technically inferior to X-Box- The X-box can churn out better graphics than the PS2, (But I suppose gameplay is more important than the looks of the game or else Snake (On Nokia handsets) would never have been such a smash hit, and that’s where PS2 titles win over.....
