I got my Playstation 2 around Christmas time. I was one of the few lucky people to get one before the year 2000 was over. Anyway, I was hopeful that my hard earned money would pay off with a great system. There was no competition from any other manufacturer (Nintendo and Sega are getting there newest systems out later this year) so I really had no other options. The system came right on time; I hooked it up and started playing.
Graphics
The graphics of this system are incredible. Every single game that I have played has amazing graphics. In some games, Madden 2001 for example, it almost looks as if the players that you control are life-like. The realism that you get from these graphics is just incredible. The only other system that comes in a very distant second place is the Nintendo 64. If you thought that the graphics for the N 64 were good, you are in for a really great treat with the Playstation 2. The lines almost never run into each other, and the screen always looks crisp and clear.
Sound
Depending on what game you are playing the sound is different. Once again in most of the games the sound is amazing. Each game has different sound, but most of the popular ones have great soundtracks, and great background music. The graphics and sound on the Sony Playstation 2 have the best features on any system out today.
Games
Like any other system the Playstation 2 has good and bad games. The majority of these games are great though. Which is a big surprise considering how many games that Sony puts out for this system. The downfall of the games is that each one costs $50. Which is $10 more then new Playstation 1 games used to cost. So you are going to get the best game system out there, but it is going to cost you a lot: $300 for the system alone, $30 for each extra controller, $30 for a memory card, and $50 for each game. That is a lot of money that you are going to be spending, but if you are a true gamer then this factor should not stand in your way.
The system in general
If you are ready for the next step up in gaming technology then the Playstation 2 is the console for you. Although it does cost a lot of money, I think that the system is well worth it. With titles such as Gran Turismo, and Twisted Metal belonging to Sony, you won’t get tired of the games that this system has. So save up your pennies kids! And get ready to have the ride of your life with the best console to date.
