PS4 box was rapped up twice with bubble wrap, a nice bubble wrap cushion on the bottom and air pillows on top! System fired up nicely and updated without any issues.
My unit came, I read the instructions carefully, and I double checked my HDMI hook ups. Everything looked great and sure enough, the PS4 worked just fine. I felt lucky again.
Pros:
–Design slim, sexy, fits in with your home theater setup.
–interface smooth, fast, easy to navigate .
–features voice command, auto-patching, playing games while downloading /installing them.
–swappable hard drive
–controller design: with the small exception of its "night light".
–sharing ability: expand your presence in the community.
–online experience:soundly restructured from previous online with PS3.
-Great new controller.
-Improved UI over the PS3s.
-Great specs that are developer friendly(unlike the PS3) and will lead to great games.
-Exciting slate of games announced for the coming year, and most of Sonys development teams have yet to reveal what they have planned, so there is a lot of potential for beyond 2015 to be excited about.
-$100 cheaper than its main competition.
-Camera is optional, and only$60.
-Playstation Plus is a great value despite what some PS3 owners might gripe about.
-Small and quiet.
-Reasonable price in relation to the competition from Microsoft and Nintendo.
-Replaceable non-proprietary HDD.
Cons:
–cooling system(gets a bit loud)
–touchpad usability(what usability?)
–half-baked features(voice command, camera interactions)
–game library currently(SO SMALL)
–auto-patching(conflict of interest)
-Sony needs to continue working on the UI and updating it over time so as to keep it streamlined.
-Launch lineup isnt that great.
-The light bar on the controller cant be turned off. Maybe a future system update will offer this option, but it seems to be the culprit for the batter drain.
-Use of the trackpad seems gimmicky in most game so far.
-WHERE IS HBOGO?
-No DLNA or MP3 support. I never used, but its a neat feature the PS3 had. MP3 is a little more annoying, but not an issue if you can just plug your mp3 device into a sound system. Both of these may be resolved with future system updates.Overall Im very satisfied with the experience, and dont regret jumping back to Playstation from Xbox for this generation.
