I bought this phone thinking that it would be a nice phone as it was Sonys Flagship phone at that time but it turned out to be a nightmare for me. I was told by the Sales staff that the phone is ICS ready and could be upgraded to ICS by taking it to any Sony Service Center.
3 Days later when I took the phone to nearest Service Center (Gurgaon), I was told by the representative at the service center that they dont have the update till now and he even advised me not to upgrade to ICS as it would slow down my phone. I later on came to know that ICS bundle for Xperia S has not yet released and the Sales representatives were already telling that it is ! Anyways, after about 3 months of purchase the touch screen of my phone started getting unresponsive but the problem was temporary and would get back to normal after I rebooted it (though it happened almost every alternate day).
Nearly 4 months after purchase the touchscreen became totally un-responsive and I had to take it back to the same Sony service center (Sector-14 Gurgaon) and he examined the phone externally and found the touch was not working and took the phone for repair (September 17, 2012) and I was told to check the repair status on the tollfree Number 1800-3000-2800. 1 week later when I called to check the repair status I was told that my phone was sent for replacement and would take 7-10 days from the time it was submitted. I called back again on September 28, 2012 to check the status and I was told that it would further take 3-4 days but I requested the representative to register a complaint as I needed the phone urgently as I had to leave for outstation. I called back on October 05, 2012 and the representative again told me that it would further take 3-4 days. This is simply ridiculous as I have spent 31000 for a smartphone and I am getting such a service from Sony, they dont bother to to even tell you the right Date the phone would be available after being repaired/replaced ! I would never recommend Sony Mobile to anyone ever.
And Yes, I forgot to mention, two of my friends who had same handsets (LT26i) too have submitted their phones for Screen issues for repair, so I think the problem is not only with the Services but also with the product!
