A delight to the senses

The movie was a treat to all my senses. be it the natural melody of songs, the charming simplicity of the plot, the perfect choice of the actors and actresses, the portrayal of delicate, heart-warming romance, the generous sprinkle of humor... . The sound of music is an apt name for the movie as it is a common chord between the pro-German and pro-Austrian characters, the naughty but sweet kids and their un-conventional governess, the graceful, introvert hero and the amiable, bubbly heroine. the plot is such that it is just the right inspiration for may further scripts. What really made the three hours of the movie fly was that the characters were all so suitably cast for their roles for example the navy captain, bossy and torn away from life after his wife’s death, the seven children in agegroup ranging from 5 to 16 years, who feel that mischief is the only way to draw the attention of their father, which they are desperately in need of, the young lady Maria, a lovable but extremely out of control lady by standards of abbey where she is to lead a life of nun. A brief employment at the Van Tropp family as governess, results in the creation of a bond of love between these characters.Uncle Max is another interesting, wickedly practical character who is loyal to the family. And then the charming baroness who tries all tricks out of possessiveness of her relationship with the captain, but later gracefully accepts the truth. In all, it is a light, titillating movie, albeit long, but strongly recommended to watch once.
