There’s a pattern which Neeraj Pandey follows in his films, probably he wants the police or the CBI to function in this manner. A Wednesday was clearly a masterpiece. About Special 26, I am confused, the movie was nice, not bad, the cast performance was apt but something, somewhere was missing.
Con movies have a stringent plot and the story revolves around the protagonist with few twists and turns here and there. About the positive points, the 1980’s feel or essence was captured quite well. Akshay, Manoj, Anupam, Kaajal everyone has tried to give their best. Music by M M Kreem also had that nostalgic feeling.
But...But...the movie was not entertaining enough, at some points you start getting bored.
Bluffmaster, Bunty aur Babli (to an extent), Khosla ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye are few examples of highly entertaining con movies. It has to have a right mixture of glamour, humor, drama and action. Special 26 lacks in 3 of these departments. No glamour, negligible humor, Lots of drama and action only comprised of chase and slaps. Although the climax was much better.
But still, I will recommend this movie to someone who wants to see a clean, feel good movie this weekend.
