Lot of features and some quirks

I upgraded from LG RD 7130 to Spice C-810(mentioned as C180 on Reliance site). I bought it for Rs. 6499/- from Reliance World in Jayanagar, Bangalore. The main attractions in this phone for me were:

large display - 240 x 320 pixels with 262k colors - not available in other phones in this price range huge battery life - upto 15 days standby and 10 hours talktime - unique feature media features - FM Radio, MP3/AAC, and Video player

The phone comes with charger, data cable, and headset. I have been using this phone for about 4 days now. Here are my observations about the phone:

Feel:The phone is a bit thick and feels heavy. It does not feel very strong or sturdy but it is easy to handle. The keys are big enough. Apart from the keypad, there are volume keys on the right side.

Screen: Screen is crisp, clear, and colorful. It shows date and time at the lower right corner. However, not much customizations are possible, you can only change the wallpaper. However, unlike some other phones, you can not see date and time when backlight is off. The phone comes with two screensavers which I did not like and have not tried.

Navigation: Menu is not very attractive or colorful. The icons are in single color which is not very attractive. The background of menus and text editor is not plain but with artistic lines and gradients. There are only two background themes in the phone: blue and red. It is not possible to customize the background further. Text is white and clear but sometimes the background is a distraction while reading. I would prefer a plain background for reading SMS. However, the phone always shows the colored(lines/gradients) background with the text. For scrolling/moving cursor, you need to press the scroll button repeatedly, which is irritating. Keeping the scroll button pressed does not move the cursor. It is also not possible to change the text size. When the cursor is on an SMS or note etc. the text scrolls so that you can read it without opening the item. Apart from opening media player and camera, the response is fast. The phone has 5 preset and 1 custom profile and within each profile, you can customize ringes, volumes, and alerts. The volume is available only under Profiles and not under Settings menu in the phone.
