Clarification on Spice Telecom’s promotions for Quicky on today’s date December 10, 2005
Till today there are many promotions from Spice Telecom’s ( https://spiceindia.com) side for their Quicky Pre-paid plan.
1. Lifetime validity.
2000 SMS messages (both National and Local).
Friends and Family plan (F&F).
Get list for missed calls while not in network/switched off (130).
1. Lifetime validity: This is a relatively newer scheme. First, you have to be a “MEGA TALK” subscriber, which involves a daily subscription of INR 1.50. In this they ask you to buy a specific “MAHA BUCK” recharge coupon for INR 3300.00. When you enter this coupon you get the lifetime validity and INR 500.00 talk time. The taxes and other charges involved according to their website are Talk time of INR 500, Service tax of INR 305.44 and Admin fees of INR 2494.55. After this you are to fulfill a few more conditions too. They are as follows:
(a) As per existing Mega talk plan customers will be charged daily rental of
INR 1.50.
(b) Customer is required to maintain minimum balance of INR 1.50 for 90
consecutive days, if balance is less than INR 1.50, then customer will enter
grace period.
(c) Customer is free to change his tariff plan.
Explained: According to the Customer Care Executive, you get lifetime as 100 years of validity, you need to have a minimum balance of INR 1.50 per day for the first 90 days to account for the daily deduction of INT 1.50 for subscription to the “MEGA TALK” plan, after the 90 days you are free to migrate to “MINI TALK” if you do not like the daily deduction of INR 1.50.
2. 2000 SMS Messages (both National and Local): You have to pay a monthly fee of INR 20.00 to avail this offer. It is not time bound, means, you can subscribe to it anytime. You will need to call 999 and then navigate the IVR menu to the choice of this offer and subscribe to it. To my understanding and usage pattern this is a pretty good offer as you get to send about 67 messages a day, everyday.
3. Friends and Family plan (F&F): This plan has 2 periods, a daytime period 06:00 to 23:00 and a nighttime from 23:00 to 06:00. For the daytime plan you can call for 10 paisa/minute and for nighttime is 1 paisa/minute. You can call two (2) Spice numbers using this subscription. The catch is the INR 1/day to use this. Means you pay INR 30 in an average month. You dial 777 and then choose option 4 to initialize and register 2 Spice numbers.
4. Get list for all calls missed while absent from network/switched off: This is a good service for those who really value who call called them. For this subscription exists a weekly fee of INR 7. You need to dial 130 from your mobile. This is also known as “Missed call alert service”.
Few things about Spice Telecom
Their customer service number for Quicky is +91-98140-12347. It is nearly impossible to call this number in the day time.
Their website is https://spiceindia.com. Informative enough, but not very detail specific. Could use more work. Not much, maybe 40% more.
Their customer service representatives are called customer care executives for some unknown reason.
4. They never have ever replied to email inquires. Just not in the work ethic I guess.
They have most of their coverage in GSM 900. More GSM 1800 sites would be useful too. Maybe they do not have the license.
They cover Punjab nearly 100% like other operators like AirTel and BSNL. Hutch I am not sure as they are GSM 1800 company.
