Hello, I am from the U.S. and my mate is Trin-Indian. I always have heard of this actress named SriDevi but I was too enraptured of Amitabh-Rajesh-Rekha-Smita et al... I thought there can not be any one on a par with them!!
I always heard of SriDevi but I just wouldn’t choose her DVDs to view. I chose NAAZRANNA{?} because of Rajesh, but when I saw SriDevi’s dancing/acting I was hooked! SriDevi-Hema Malini-Rekha- Madhuri Dixit are the BEST dancers in Bollywood. This movie had SriDevi , Rajesh Khanna & Smita Patil . And you know how most Bollywood movies are: the BEGINNING story in no way foretells how the ENDING story will be. NAAZRANNA starts out with SriDevi being this awesome village dancer/one woman army against the village thugs! After ’’affairing’’ Rajesh whilst Smita was away Sri ends up doing dances in the U.S. in those awful 80’s clothes! You know, BIG-POOFY-LOUD-UNCOMFORTABLE LOOKING TO WEAR- SriDevi dances so well, yet she seemed pretty chubby {not that there is anything wrong with that}in NAAZRANNA.
In the movie CHANDNI, SriDevi really lost weight! I hope someone elaborates on the tragedy that she had while shooting this film. edit I read up that her father passed away and her mom had a brain operation during this film**That’s why she seemed so sad & thin... I thought she was so beautiful!! Her sari costumes were stunning.
KUDDAH GAWAH was great too! Even when SriDevi has to look her worst, she looks great! I like the chemistry between she and Amitabh.
SriDevi is one of the ONLY actresses that still looks great!! I hope she is living a happy life.
