Ive been a Metallica fan since well over 15 years now, and love all their albums till date. Ive found a lot of people crticizing Metallica for the way St. Anger turned out as they thought it wasnt "pure" Metallica. Well for 1, I disagree. I think this is "pure" Metallica.
This doesnt mean Im sayin And justice for all, Kill em all, Black werent Metallica. Its just that each album that Metallica ever made, potrays them. We all will agree to have changed in the last 15 yeears. So why cant we accept a slight change by the band we all love? St. Anger has so much pain & passion, its unreal. A true Metallica fan will realise this as an absolute portrayal of the problems the band went through.
This is also the first album with Robert joining the band after jasons departure. Initially I didnt like Robert, and was pretty upset at Jason leaving, but Robert sorta grows on you.
"Death Magnetic" released a few months back, and when I first heard it, I didnt really go "OH WOW", but as I kept listening to it, I really began to like that as well. Now, Death Magentic and St. Anger are among my favourite Metallica albums along with Black & Load.
In St. Anger, the actual song St. Anger was beautifully pictured at San Quentin Penitentiary. Its a plain video, but the power, passion, pain and frustration is all so evident, itll make your hair stand on end. Id just like to say I think Metallica rocks. They rocked 15 years back, they rock today, and they sure will rock 15 years from today. Im waiting to see them live in Glasgow on 26th March 2009.
